Alterations

Yesterday, this dress had little puff sleeves. They were cute but so tight that I couldn't raise my arms above 45 degrees! No good for typing, driving, or much at all. So I unpicked the seams and took them off, thus creating a much more wearable dress, yay!

Dress, tights, and shoes New Look, long-sleeved top H&M, pendant Topshop, bracelets no idea.

The tights are 120 denier and have a fantastic slimming and firming effect on the legs. They're a lot like the tradional pink ballet tights I used to wear to classes years ago, except without the tendency to cut off the circulation when you sat down!

you don't need to make your legs look thinner, skinny miss. but i might go to new look tomorrow...
i love this dress! and i swear they make their clothes for people with doll arms...or childrens arms. damn them!

and- green long sleeved tops are OBVIOUSLY the way to go then!

That dress is gorgeous! I love the colors and those purple tights! I know I wouldn't be able to pull those off but they look so fab on you! And you have WONDERFULLY long legs Adri, you don't need to worry about those at all. :)

Haha, my long thin legs illusion is working! The truth is, I have ok legs, but I know how to make them look better. Dark tights make them look thinner and help to disguise my knobbly and slightly inward facing knees. I also never pose with my legs straight together and feet pointed forwards, otherwise I look knock-kneed. I wear heels to look taller, and avoid shoes which come right up the front of the foot or have straps across the ankle because they shorten the leg (the type of flat gladiator sandal with straps around the ankle are terrible for this). And I choose outfits to disguise the less good area, the tops of my thighs. So all my skirts are mid-thigh or longer and have some volume, I don't wear shorts, and I either wear dark jeans or use a long top to cover the tops of my legs. It's all just a case of knowing your body, good and bad bits, and learning to flatter and disguise as well as possible. And, obviously, taking 37 photos of your outfit to get the best one :-)

Regarding your comment on my page - If there's one thing I've learnt about being a Brit into vintage, it's that you'll pay a LOT more for it than Americans tend to! I tend to get most of my stuff by scouring charity shops, vintage boutiques and jumble sales, or by trying eBay (US and UK versions) and Etsy. I tend to find my best bits in America and the prices are generally cheaper so it's ok to get them shipped over. Cute dress by the way! xx
